Suite Class Compartment trains will start operating in the middle of this month. Passengers who want to try this luxury train service can order tickets starting today, Tuesday, October 10 2023. How much does it cost?

PT Kereta Api Indonesia (KAI) announced the ticket prices for this train on Monday, October 9 2023 in a post on Instagram. “Starting from 10-31 October 2023, you can order tickets for just IDR 1,950,000, you can enjoy a sultan-style trip on the Suite Class Compartment train,” said the announcement.
This price is valid during the promotional period from 10 October to 31 October. KAI has not announced normal ticket prices after the promotional period ends.

Coupled with the Bima and Argo Semeru trains

KAI also said that Suite Class Compartment trains will operate on the Bima and Argo Semeru train circuits. So, the route and departure schedule will follow these two series.
“KA Bima is an executive train service that serves the Gambir-Surabaya Gubeng (pp) route via Yogyakarta, with departures from Gambir Station at 17.00 and from Surabaya Gubeng at 19.20. “This Suite Class Compartment train reminds us of the Bima train service that used to exist in the 1960s – 1980s,” said the statement in the upload.
The Argo Semeru train is an executive train on the Gambir-Surabaya Gubeng (pp) route. This train’s departure schedule is from Gambir Station at 06.20 and from Surabaya Gubeng Station at 09.05.

First class service

Netizens are divide into two camps regarding the ticket price. Some said the price was too expensive and compared it with the price of a flight ticket from Jakarta to Surabaya. Moreover, this is a promotional price that is valid during October only.
“It’s expensive, bro, last month I went to Jkt, Sby took economy class, it didn’t even cost 500 thousand, you also sleep a lot on the train,” wrote a follower of the KAI account in the comments column.

But many also say the price is reasonable because it targets the “sultans”. Apart from its first class service, this train can be an alternative for those who have money but are traumatized about taking a plane.

Deputy Minister of BUMN Kartika Wirjoatmodjo has also tried this train service on Saturday, October 7 2023 with a route from Gambir Station to Cirebon PP Station.
