Elton John stole the attention when she appeared in the final round of America’s Got Talent (AGT) 2023. Putri was able to conquer the song “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” by legendary singer Elton John.

Just like the previous round, the 17 year old singer performed the song while playing the piano. Putri looked very calm, as if she had no burden when singing the hit song which was released in 1974.

“Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” written by. Elton John and Bernie Taupin in January 1974 has a very deep meaning. In the song, Elton sings to someone he has helped in the past and he is. Now experiencing rejection and doesn’t understand why. In fact, in the lyrics Elton only wants to love someone without hurting anyone.

Interestingly, after entering the recording process, Elton John didn’t like the song “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me.” Elton was unhappy with his vocal take and producer. Gus Dudgeon had difficulty trying to combine all the voices and instruments on it. “When Elton recorded this song, he was in a bad mood.

“On some occasions, he screamed, on other occasions he mumbled it, or he just stood there, staring at the control room,” Dudgeon said as quoted by Smoothradio. Another unique thing, drummer Nigel Olsson, revealed that the song “Don’t Let the Sun Go Down on Me” inspired three Guns N’ Roses songs, namely “November Rain”, “Don’t Cry”, and “Estranged”.

After splitting with Elton John, and joining Guns N’ Roses, while recording the song “November Rain”, Guns N’ Roses vocalist, Axl Rose, sang “Don’t Let The Sun Go Down On Me” and the tune sounded very similar. Sorum used the same drum phrases into other Guns N’ Roses songs, and played the same fills on “Don’t Cry” and “Estranged”.
