The explosion caused an evacuation within a 700 meter radius, while traffic on the national road was block, according to the government’s emergency response unit (IGSU). A second explosion occurred at an LPG station on Saturday evening and injured 26 firefighters, according to Deputy Interior Minister Raed Arafat who is in charge of the emergency response unit.
Of the 46 people injured, eight were intubate after suffering severe burns. “We predict that four patients will definitely be transfer tonight to hospitals in Italy and Belgium,” Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu told reporters after an emergency meeting with state agencies involved in managing the crisis.

About 25 fire engines were deploy at the scene but the fire could not be extinguish.

Arafat said more explosions could have occurred because the third tank at the site posed a risk. Health Minister Alexandru Rafila confirmed one death. He said the death toll was likely to rise.
The explosion occurred at a refueling station that provides liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) used in household appliances. LPG is also an alternative to gasoline and diesel in some vehicles.
Emergency situation official Raed Arafat said residents in the area within a 750 meter radius around the station has been evacuate.
The number of people evacuate is estimate at 3,000 people. The evacuation started after at least one private house caught fire, said Florin Petre. Mayor of Crevedia in an interview with broadcaster Digi24.
As well as the eight people injured in the first explosion. Two people who worked at the scene of the fire are still missing, Petre said.
Several ambulances and helicopter were dispatch to the scene, and an emergency unit was set up to provide first aid.
It is not clear what caused the explosion. There was no mention of sabotage or attacks.
